Barcelona planning to make swoop for Rabiot

Adrien Rabiot, international with the French national team at this summer's European Championship and free agent after the end of his contract with Juventus, is on Barcelona's radar. Already when his departure from Turin was confirmed, it was leaked that both Real Madrid and Milan had put him on their respective agendas. Now, ‘Mundo Deportivo’ reports that he is on Barcelona's shortlist. The Catalan giants are considering signing him to reinforce their midfield in the face of injuries to Gavi and Marc Bernal, especially if Frenkie de Jong, who has a bruised ankle, opts to undergo surgery and also remains on the sidelines for a prolonged period of time. The main stumbling block, however, is the salary the Frenchman is asking for. He is demanding to earn around 10 million euros net per season. That would make him the third highest earner in Hansi Flick's squad behind only Robert Lewandowski and the aforementioned Dutchman. The ‘Cules’ would only see his landing as possible if he agreed to reduce his demands or if he gave the go-ahead to sign a short, one-year contract, with a low buy-out clause or the possibility of leaving as a free agent in the summer of 2025 to keep his future options open.  Since the 2019-20 season, Adrien Rabiot has played for Juventus after signing as a free agent following his time at Paris Saint-Germain, where he had been playing since he had not yet come of age.
